A question that arises from that game is, should there be a shot clock in high school basketball? In college men’s basketball the shot clock is 35 seconds and women’s college basketball it’s 30 seconds.
In my opinion there should be a shot clock to limit teams from holding on the ball. There should be a 35 second shot clock that is enforced by the MSHSL. With a shot clock, I believe that the games will be more intense and more fun to watch. The reasoning behind this is that more teams will have to focus on defense since teams have a time limit to score. When teams hold the ball fans are not be happy, since they consider it boring. The shot clock will make teams to hurry up there offenses and make them run an up-tempo style.
Recently the format changed from quarters to halves just like college basketball. The trends that are happening, will hopefully pave the way for a shot clock just like college. Look for this to happen in the future.
